Sakura
Story: A 14-year-old girl, and the main character of the story. She was found mysteriously outside the Kozuka shinobi village, and was raised there. She trained to be a ninja through childhood, but failed to perform ninjutsu, or attack like a graceful ninja should. She later finds out that she is meant to be a summoner, and not a ninja, and leaves the village on a journey along with the Elder's daughter Rikku.
Personality: Sakura is generally an extroverted person, sometimes to the extent that she "opens her big mouth too much". She believes strongly in friendship and justice, and never loses faith in those that are close to her. Though Sakura has many fears, she hides them with a smile to prevent her friends from worrying about her. Sakura never lets herself give in to the likes of evil, and firmly follows her beliefs.
Random Facts: Ever since she was little, Sakura has always had a crush on Kozuka Kenji, her former teacher and Rikku's older brother.
Kusanagi Orochi
Story: When Orochi was 12 years old, a mysterious assassin entered his village, Kusanagi, and murdered every living person there, including Orochi's father and little sister. He was sleeping at the time, and woke up behind his father's body, with a scar across his right eye. Ever since then, he hasn't had a place to call home, or a family to take care of him. It is only when he is 17 that he meets Sakura and Rikku, and joins them on their journey to find the Guardian Spirits of Gaia. Orochi, and all the other members of his former clan are half-demons.
Personality: Before the Kusanagi massacre, Orochi was a quiet, reserved, and intellectual boy who cared about no one but his little sister, who had a serious health condition. After the death of his family and clan-people, he lived a life of solitude, still maintaining the same quiet personality he always had. However, with solitude, he grew pessimistic, insensitive, and lonely. He wears an assassin's mask to hide his emotions from the people around him, but claims that it is a Kusanagi tradition.
Random Facts: Despite Orochi's somewhat cold personality, he never abandons a friend in need. He always feels obligated to save a damsel in distress, even if he doesn't personally know her.
Kozuka Rikku
Story: Rikku is the daughter of the Elder of the Kozuka Clan-- Kozuka Yao. She was a ninja prodigy, and soon grew to become the top in her class, and the village. Though she excelled in school and training, she never felt challenged enough. It was then that the Elder decided to send her with Sakura on her journey, in order to allow his daughter to grow more as a ninja, and as a person. When Rikku was 5 years old, her younger brother Koji was kidnapped by a member of the Kusanagi Clan, and her mother went missing after trying to look for him. Since then, she has never been able to fully trust people from the clan, including Orochi.
Personality: Rikku, having been quite sheltered her life despite some unfortunate circumstances, has a very quiet and shy disposition. Even so, there is evidence that she has a split personality. She is never afraid to blow up in anyone's face, no matter who they are. A notable fact about her is that she gets jealous very easily. She always speaks her mind, and never sugarcoats her words. Rarely will Rikku bottle her emotions inside and allow them to torture her brain-- but when she does, something is definitely troubling her. She can be a romantic at times and often wishes she could find her knight in shining armour before she gets betrothed.
Random Facts: Rikku isn't afraid of heights, bugs, or lightning. She is, however, claustrophobic.
Kyu Kajin
Story: Kajin comes from a village called Momorin, a theif village surrounded by a mountain range in the East. The people there live in poverty because their farmland was taken by the King of Kaichitoka. They possess a coveted artifact, and call it the Momorin Orb. The Orb can suck in anything it's master desires-- but only if it sparkles. Kajin was sent on a one-year journey around the continent, to pillage from villages everywhere to fill the Momorin Orb with treasure to bring back to the people. When he got back, however, he found his village burned to the ground. It is then that he lives the life of a drifter and meets Sakura, Orochi, and Rikku.
Personality: Ever since Kajin hit puberty, (and possibly before that) he's been a pervert. From peeking in locker rooms to staring at women's bodies for minutes at a time, there's no satisfying this boy. He always looks to the bright side of things, which leads many to wonder whether he is over-optimistic or merely ignorant. His antics and jokes always liven up the group, but sometimes he can't take anything seriously.
Random Facts: Kajin fell in love with a girl from his village at age 14, who bluntly rejected him when he asked her out. He flirts with other girls in an attempt to get over her, but no one knows this.
Shinji
Story: Shinji belongs to the rare Elf race, one that has been believed to be a mythical species of folklore. Shinji does not remember where he came from, but remembers it was an Elven village. He was raised in a camp that belonged to the Asukane, a group of hunters. He was taught archery and excelled at it more than humans with years of practice. His life was very much that of an ordinary human until he met Sakura and the others. The leader of the hunters told them to take Shinji along-- perhaps to find out about where he came from and find his family.
Personality: Shinji is the smart one in the group. Looks can be deceiving-- though Shinji looks only to be about 8-10 years old, he is actually 13, due to Elven metabolism. Despite this, he can sometimes show exceptional bravery. He knows when to speak, and when not to speak. He is surprisingly well-mannered for his age, and never embarasses himself. He likes to observe his friends and their problems-- he is always the first to know if something is wrong.
Random Facts: Shinji actually enjoys every minute of the attention he gets from older girls.
